LONDON, July 30 (Reuters) - Mongolia-focused oil explorer Petro Matad said that analysis carried out on the drilling results of its first well in Eastern Mongolia confirmed that oil was present, sending its shares soaring.

Earthquake hits eastern Mongolia

An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale hit Zuunbayan County, Dornogobi Province, in eastern Mongolia Friday morning, the Mongolian Astronomical and Geophysical Research Institute said.
