Herlenii Huduu Aral is one of the most important places in the life of Chinggis Khaan (Genghis Khaan). "The Secret History of the Mongols," the only historic document on Chinggis Khaan's life and wars, was completed here in 1240. In honour of the event, a stone monument of the Great Khaan was erected here in 1990.
Day 1. Gun Galuut
Gun Galuut (130 km). Drive to Gun Galuut Nature Reserve. Lunch at a . Horse riding to lakes Ikh-Gun and Ayaga for bird watching. Watch for White cranes, Swan geese, Whooper swans, Duck species and others. On the way back visit a nomadic family, taste airag and have lunch with the family.
Day 2. Huduu Aral
Huduu Aral (80 km). Drive to Herlenii Hodoo Aral. Arrive and visit Chinggis Khaan's monument and the ruins of Aurag (Giant) city ruins at the bank of the River Aurug, known as Chinggis Khaan's winter palace. Overnight at a camp.
Day 3. Ulaanbaatar
Ulaanbaatar (138 km). Return to Ulaanbaatar. Overnight in hotel.
