Sumo: Hakuho 1st to three-peat with perfect 15-0 records

A day after capturing his 15th career title, Mongolian grand champion Hakuho capped off a stellar performance with a superhuman feat against ozeki Baruto on Sunday, making him the only man in the history of sumo to win three consecutive meets with perfect 15-0 records.

Mongolia’s Hakuho Wins His 13th Sumo Title

Mongolian grand champion Hakuho defeated compatriot Harumafuji to win his 13th Emperor’s Cup at the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament.

Hakuho sent ozeki Harumafuji sprawling to the dirt surface at the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium on Sunday with an arm throw to finish the spring tournament with a flawless 15-0 record.

Hakuho is the sole grand champion competing

Mongolia Honors Former Sumo Grand Champion

Former sumo grand champion Asashoryu met with Mongolian's deputy prime minister on Friday.

Asashoryu announced he was quitting sumo at a tear-filled news conference in early February following a probe into reports of a drunken scuffle in Tokyo in January.

Despite the scandal, Asashoryu has been received as a big star back home.
