Russian railways to invest $7 billion in Mongolian rails, mining
Posted by mongoliaonline 304 days ago (http://feedproxy.google.com)Russia’s state railway has agreed to invest $7 billion to improve Mongolia’s rail infrastructure as well as develop coal and copper mining.
The Russian railways, known as RZD, signed an agreement with Erdenes MGL, the Mongolian state mining company, and Mongolia’s MTZ national railway company, to create a joint venture to build railroads connecting to mining sites and explore and develop mineral deposits.
The agreement was announced during Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's Wednesday visit to Mongolia.
Though few details of the agreement were released, it is known that rail access to the Tavan Tolgoi site will be a priority.
