Russia announced Wednesday it will purchase 100,000 pedigree sheep from Mongolia. The sheep will be delivered to the Republic of Tuva to improve the quality of its herds. The sheep will be used for providing the population with meat. "Active cooperation between Tuva and Mongolian has intensively been developing in recent years," according to Sholban Kara-ool, the head of the Russian Republic of Tuva. The sheep will be sent to Tuva through the checkpoints of Tsagaan-Tolgoi and Artsuuri. Trade between Tuva and Mongolia reached $7 million in 2008, double the amount in 2007.
