Voters’ cards
There are 6 days left for the 2009 Presidential election to be held and pre-election works are being done according to the timeline indicated in the law. Aimag, district election committees are handing out the voter’s cards. In order to not to repeat the frauds of previous elections - like citizens voting in various districts - the General Election Committee informed that the National identifications cards will be sealed. Criminal Code for election
Today the Democratic Party held a press conference to introduce the Criminal Code draft regarding the Presidential Election. The idea is that during the voting process, citizens who voted more than once,and/or supported intentionally others to vote more than once will be arrested and punished with imprisonment from 3 months up to 6 months. Previously people who were involved in such actions were not punished. Therefore, Democratic Party says that if this provision is approved, the accountability of organizing election will increase and voters will make responsible choice. (Mongolia Web News - Ulaanbaatar)
General Election Committee declines the “Korea” matter
MPRP (Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party) addressed to General Election Committee the issue regarding Ts. Elbegdorj, the Presidential candidate from Democratic Party got donation from Korean businessmen and pastors. The Committee’s position was “We are not able to decide the matter since it happened before the commencement of legal duration of election”. Despite, if the video is proven to be true, Ts.Elbegdorj might be accused of corruption. Therefore, the matter is being investigated by the Anti Corruption Agency.(Mongolia Web News - Ulaanbaatar)
